I grew up in Saint Louis where I started singing Disney tunes at age three. I remember hearing opera when I was very young at a friend’s house and trying to sing along. I thought it was so beautiful and unlike anything I had ever heard before. My mom would take me to see Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables at the Fox Theatre and I thought it was magical. She always tells the story of when I was in middle school: I didn’t want a bike or any other toy, I wanted the Phantom of the Opera CD. I think that’s when she decided to enroll me in private voice lessons. I’ve been singing ever since!
I love music because it’s so expressive. I am a very passionate and outgoing person and music allows me to convey that. It’s personal, and no performance is exactly the same, making every performance special and unique – that is what I LOVE.
I like other things too: dogs, cartoons, beer, camping, cooking, meeting new people, traveling, and trying new things. I also love to help other people, which is one of the reasons I helped start an online magazine called Modern Singer. The magazine has allowed me to help other vocalists while helping to build a lifestyle resource that caters to today's artist. The magazine has allowed me to help other singers by featuring young artists on the site, giving singers access to established professionals in our field via webinars, and providing career advice, fashion tips, health and fitness routines, personal development ideas, and humor that all revolves around the modern singer. These are all things that help build your career no matter where you live. We work in a hard industry and I am happy I am a part of something that can make it a little easier and fun!
